macOS 15 or later, on both Apple silicon and Intel. The app uses Apple's own ScreenCaptureKit, so there is no driver or system extension to install.

No. No account, no sign-in, no cloud sync. Download it, drag it to Applications, grant screen access and you are recording.

Apple's built-in tool records the screen well, but that is all it does. Screen Studio adds the things that make a tutorial watchable: auto-zoom that follows your cursor and clicks, backdrops with rounded corners, a bold synthetic cursor that ripples on click, a keystroke overlay, a webcam bubble, annotations drawn straight onto the screen you are recording, a multi-clip editor, and GIF export.

The one that matters most to many people: it records system audio, which ⌘⇧5 cannot do.

Screen Recording to read screen frames, and Input Monitoring to know where you click and type — that is how auto-zoom follows the cursor and how the keystroke overlay works. Microphone, camera and notifications are optional. If something is blocked, see the permissions guide.

Videos default to ~/Movies/ScreenStudio/ and screenshots to ~/Pictures/. Both are configurable in Settings, and every video export still lets you pick the destination.

Your videos, images and screen content never leave your Mac. The app does send anonymous action counters (the kind of action, app and macOS version) so we know which features get used, and one checkbox turns that off. The complete list is on the privacy page.

The app checks on launch. When there is a new version you get a macOS notification and a badge on the menu bar icon, and one click upgrades — no coming back here to download by hand. See the changelog.

The app is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so a download from this site opens normally. If it is still blocked, the file usually arrived by some other route and lost its signature — download it again straight from the home page.

No. The app is written natively for macOS on ScreenCaptureKit and AVFoundation, so there is no build for other systems.
